EC Vice-president Neelie Kroes visits ebbits at CeBIT

Being responsible for the Digital Agenda in Europe, Neelie Kroes visited CeBIT from 6-10 March to look at innovative ICT projects and products.Being responsible for the Digital Agenda in Europe, Neelie Kroes visited CeBIT from 6-10 March to look at innovative ICT projects and products.

As part of her visit she went past the Factories of the Future stand where ebbits was exhibiting together with other EU funded projects.

At the stand Neelie Kroes was introduced to the ebbits platform and how it becomes possible to monitor the lifecycle of products to gain valuable information about products or processes, whether tracking the CO2 footprint of cars or tracing the food we consume.

The platform, based on a Service-oriented Architecture with open protocols and middleware, collects information from data repositories, devices and sensors and transforms it into intelligent web services. Neelie Kroes was given examples of how ebbits works from the two scenarios in ebbits; auto manufacturing and food traceability.
