Organic pig production

The European Union's food policy is built around high food safety standards, which serve to protect, and promote, the health of the consumer. Consumers have the right to expect information on food quality and constituents that is helpful and clearly presented, so that informed choices can be made. At the same time, consumers need to be kept better informed of emerging foods safety concerns and of risks to certain groups from particular foods.

Using the ebbits platform and existing smart home environments integrated in the IoPTS, an ebbits prototype business application will demonstrate how consumers can achieve not only comprehensive and reliable information of the life-cycle history of the food, their families are going to eat, but also useful information such as recipes that greatly enhance their experience.

This video features organic production of pigs. The video explains the many requirements and conditions that must be fulfilled in order for the farmer to attache the "organic" label to the pigs. The video visualises the benefits to the consumer if all of the organic production data can be collected and presented by the ebbits platform. The video was provided by TNM. Click on the video to start playing (allow some time for it to load). The narration is in Danish, but you can still enjoy the nice pictures of the cute pigs.
