Performance and quality monitoring with WSN

In order to demonstrate the ebbits platform, a performance and quality use case has been prototyped to demonstrate vibration detection and visualisation. The following situations are demonstrated in the video: A vibration analysis by means of WSN for maintenance application is performed. The analysis will allow detection of possible faults for example due to elements positioning that is not detected from presence sensors installed on the transport systems of production lines.

Two production systems components have been considered: a roller with skid and an automated pallet conveyor (APC).

On the roller three setups have been tested:

  • Bolt fixed on rubber roller to simulate abnormal wearing/consumption
  • WSN Sensor for vibration detection installed on Skid
  • WSN Sensor for vibration detection on motor gearbox
On the APC five components have been analysed from a vibrations point of view:
  • Element
  • Single pallet
  • Main drive shaft
  • Motor gearbox
  • Conducted drive shaft

The video was produced by ISMB and Comau and edited by In-JeT © 2014.
