The ebbits project does research in architecture, technologies and processes, which allow businesses to semantically integrate the Internet of Things into mainstream enterprise systems and support interoperable end-to-end business applications. It will provide semantic resolution to the Internet of Things and hence present a new bridge between backend enterprise applications, people, services and the physical world. The ebbits platform features a Service oriented Architecture (SoA) based on open protocols and middleware, effectively transforming every subsystem or device into a web service with semantic resolution.

The ebbits platform thus enables the convergence of the Internet of People (IoP), the Internet of Things (IoT) and the Internet of Services (IoS) into the Internet of People, Things and Services (IoPTS) for business purposes.

Farewell from ebbits

The ebbits project officially ended on 28th February 2015. The result is a widely deployable platform that allows enterprises to develop and deploy a new range of business applications by integrating the Internet of People, Things and Services into their systems.

Hi, can I disturb you for one moment?

Do you know anything about the meat you buy? With the ebbits app on your smartphone, it becomes possible to get information on the origin and upbringing at the farm; the transport to the slaughterhouse and the retailer. You can read about the meat cut and the best way to prepare it.

Louise and Trine from In-JeT spent a few hours in the cold meat section to ask questions about the consumer app that ebbits has developed for tracing beef from farm to fork.

Online end-user survey on Food Traceability

Would you like to know more about the meat products you buy? Do you think that meat products that can be traced from farm to fork are safer to eat?

Whether or not you have strong opinions and concerns about food safety, and whether or not you already know how technology can be used to trace our food products from farm to fork, then we would like to get your input to the ebbits food traceability application. Please take 2 minutes to fill out this 10 question survey online.

Please be sure to click on "Done" when you have completed the survey.

If you are interested in more background material you can download the detailed Food Traceability scenario here.
